Vaima Restaurant and Bar reviews
67My birthday in Rarotonga was made very special with our experience at Vaimas restaurant, the staff, the food the sunset and enjoying the surrounding top notch. Thank you, I will continue to recommend your place to all my friends, xx charlee
A group of 7 us ate at the restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The best meals we've had on the island.
Paid $34 for a shopping mall curry, half the menu was not available and the entree was pre made, the only thing this restaurant has going for it is the venue
We had a great night here, dining at a table right on the beach.
We had won tons, ika mata, fish & prawn curry, and the catch of the day. All of these dishes were fantastic. We somehow managed to top it off with some key lime pie before tottering off into the warm night happy and full.
I highly recommend this place - great food, excellent service, and if you can get a table on the beach then go for it!
Tumeke. Perfect spot for dinner. Pretty much unbeatable in terms of vibe, and the cocktails were to die for. Seafood curry and pork belly were outstanding, and the crabs came out to play with the king tide. Highly, highly recommend.
Don't pass by, call in and have a great dinning experience. Staff were fantastic and meal was outstanding. Highly recommended.
This was my most favourite experience from my Jan 2020 visit, so I started my May 2022 break here for dinner Sun eve after arrival. It is every bit as good as it always was, the cocktails, friendly service, beach tables on sand overlooking lagoon are hard to beat for best Rarotongan dining experience. My seafood curry was delicious too. The locals who go there, are hugely wonderful part of the Vaima experience - thanks Cam and Angela for more good vibes on Cook Is time.
Staff lovely clean restaurant however positions very small and over cooked. Price wise a little on the expensive side
Amazing food, great setting on the beach & bonus it was at sunset & outstanding service Everything I had was delicious! Great for a couple, family or friends.
Was recommended this place. Beautiful setting right on the beach at sunset was lovely. Shame about the quite rude welcome we got from the owner/manager. She was very abrupt with her request to wear a mask (the rules had only changed that day so we didn’t know), she could have asked nicely but didn’t! My beef Wellington was ok but a bit tough & overdone. Fish curry was yum. Table service was excellent. Upon leaving the owner/manager lady was again very opinionated & abrupt to the point of making me feel like we weren’t welcome! Shame on her in the first couple of weeks of re-opening their border’s, they should be super happy to have customers, not make us feel unwelcome. My husband & I both said we wouldn’t go back!
The best. The foods came on time. The drinks were beautiful and so as the foods. The staff were amazing and genuine. For a restaurant with such excellent services, it was worth every cent.
The staff welcome you from the moment you arrive and their warmth and friendliness lasts throughout. A great menu, and sitting out under the stars and garden lights, made for a special experience. The Beef Wellington and chicken curry were both delicious and we like forward to returning this week.
We came to Vaima for cocktails and snacks and got a very rude reception from the owner.
Seems this guy is more concerned about lining his own back pocket than the hospitality of his customers. Everything was fine, drinks and waitress service, until we paid and left. While we were waiting for our ride outside the owner comes up and rips into us for booking a table for drinks and snacks. We did end up spending a modest amount and had dined for a full dinner at Vaima earlier in the week and saw no wrong in what we had done. The owner took the opposite viewpoint which put a downer on the rest of our evening hence the 1 star review.
Perhaps if he looked after patrons better instead of pushing to turn tables over quickly and demanding they spend as much as possible while at Vaima he would get better reviews.
The place is ok except the table we got was just under the coconut tree. Food is way too expensive for the price. Taste? Better eat at home and baby portion. I was served garlic prawns with small desert folks amd spoon. My partner was served without cuttery. Who does that? So hospitality was poor very much. I had martini but honestly better drink hand sanitizer than this. Walked out very unhappy.
Went there 10 minutes ago to be told that it was fully booked.
Acceptable.
Bar area was empty so we asked whether we could have a drink, only to be refused as the bar was supposedly full.
Wouldn't waste my time going back.
Went here for the last meal of our holiday, and it was a great choice. Sat at a table down on the beach, and enjoyed a lovely, leisurely meal. The signature Beef Wellington was excellent, as was the pork belly. Staff were a little thin on the ground, but all were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. You definitely need to book.
It was perfect. We had a table on the beach and could watch the crabs running around as we enjoyed a delicious meal. Staff are so friendly and helpful.
Excellent food, waiters are pretty onto it. Glad we were inside as outside, despite its novelty, was rather dark. Prices were pretty smack on all considering. On a side note - it's hard to tell if they are attempting to be an island fine dining restaurant or just a suave beachside bistro. If it's the latter I was happy with the hard working staff and general environment. If not - side plates are essential, as is a locking toilet door to avoid embarassment. Thanks again for the lovely meal!
Fantastic Beef Wellington. Great spot, we went 4 out of 7 nights we were on the Island. We will be back
In my opinion best place in Rarotonga to eat out. Excellent dishes at reasonable prices, smiling service specially Tia and Teca! Would eat every day there.highly recommended!
